Rent allowance question

Hi i was wondering if i could get some information off you guys. The situation is a bit messy but maybe someone can give some assistance. Me and my girlfriend moved in together in private rented accommodation several months ago. I had previously been renting with two friends for the previous year. We have a two year old daughter who attends a creche 3 days per week.

My girlfriend is in full time employment, as was i until she acquired her job. She earns more then me so we decided i would drop hours in work and mind our daughter two days per week and work the four days in order to reduce creche costs. I currently work 28hours per week.

The thing is she has decided to move out as she isnt happy. We have been together for 9 years, we both feel maybe its time to part as things have gotten very stressful with having a baby and rent to pay not to mention being left with virtually no month each month. I know many people are in this situation and it is very taxing on the people involved.

She can move back into her mothers rent free which i think is better for her and my daughter as she will be left with alot more money at the end of each month and will be able to provide for our daughter much better then if we had remained living together.

My question is in relation to whether i could receive rent allowance as i would have to seek other accomodation. I have no family home to return to as it was sold last year. As i mentioned i work 28 hours per week and i cant return to full time hours as they are not available, so the 28 hours provide all the income i receive. I also have to pay child support. I just curious as to whether i would qualify. Im currently 26 years old.
