    Hi there,
I am interested in taking part in road cycling races to see where I stand as a rider. All along I have been cycling alone. What are some good races to enter in the cork area? And can I just turn up on the day to enter?
I also have just the basic C.I licence, do I need a different licence to enter road races?
    Thanks

Fermoy league races on Tuesdays, Planet Tri in Cloghroe on Thursdays. Haven't been to either as weekday evenings don't suit me but some lads on here have. Seem to have gone well.

Yes, but you need a race licence.

Yes, but you need a race licence.
Not for the league races, you don't.

Really, I may well be wrong - I understood that was only if you were a member of the host club?

Well, not entirely sure if I should be saying this, but one of the organisers of one of the mentioned leagues told me a regular licence will do - but I am in a neighbour club, so not sure if it's just an informal thing or not :)

I don't think they're classed as official CI-approved races, which is, from what I understand, why a regular licence will do.
