    Hi All,
my Aunt and Uncle have come home to visit from Oz having moved there since 1971. They are both at retirement age and are wondering if they are entitled to any kind of benefit from the state, old age pension or something like that. They are not here to stay and only visiting. My Uncle worked before he left and thinks that he may have paid stamps whilst working, but hasnt got a PPS number. Whereas my auntie didnt work but was wondering if she was entitled to an old age pension. As i say they are in or around retirement age. If there is any help or advice on where to look or what they may be entitled to id really appreciate it.
    Thanks a bunch

Unlikely they will get anything immediately. The residency clause is likely to be invoked. Are they not entitled to benefits from Oz?

Your uncle may be entitled to a pension based on his pre 1971 contributions , but he'll need to prove his past employment record... Doubt yr auntie would be entitled to F all, (non resident, non contributory )... Are they getting their superannuation from oz. Cos you get nothing in Ireland for just being Irish ...

I would suggest they try Citizens Advice Bureau, might be able to help them out with info. I know some friends parents, who live outside Ireland, get the Irish pension. Worth looking at.

I don't have specific answers but for very general guidance check www.citizensinformation.ie and also www.welfare.ie.

Doubt it , satisfying the HRC would be nearly impossible. There's a couple of agencies who assist Irish get settled and home , but they are nearly always homeless destitute etc.... Safehome is one I think , your relatives are really just on holidays.
