Air Con - Mk 1 Focus not working

    Hi All,

The air con on my ford focus doesnt appear to be working. I got the gas checked recently and was told it was fine. I found a break in the cable going to the compressor so fixed that yesterday. Now I hear the compressor and fan kicking in when I turn on the air con, but still no cold air. It doesnt seem to stay on for long though, and will kick in again soon after it goes off. Any suggestions what else could be the problem?

    Thanks

Typically this suggests a clutch cycling off its safety/protection devices.
An LPCO switch protects against low pressure condition such as loss of 134a or frozen coil/ BLOCKED expansion device.
A HPCO high pressure cut out device would protect should a high side excess pressure condition occur such as overcharge, non running condenser fan or bent/ dirty coil fins or tubing.
Usually with only seasonal use, bets would be on low refrigerant through shaft seal effusion.

Thanks for the reply, havent gotten a chance to look at it since, but the refrigerant levels are ok, or so I have been told. So this would suggest maybe a blockage somewhere? Is there any way for me to know if it is high pressure or low pressure causing the cut out?
