Moving away from UPC/Sky

This question has probably been asked so many times but just a quick one. For a complete novice in this area, what would you recommend moving away from this side of things? Fed up with the increase with UPC, Sky is just too expensive... Based in Cork City

Depends if you can do without the premium subscription channels. If you can then break free, save some money, it will fund the equipment change you will need.
