    Hi guys,

I got a call a week ago for a graduate position.

The HR asked a few questions such as my salary expectations which I said is not relevant (didn't particularity say not relevant) but gave impression that getting experience is my objective.
The HR also asked do I mind working overtime which I said not a problem.

While speaking to her it didn't dawn to me that it what was going on was CV screening, it was very difficult to hear what she was saying as I was on the bus.

The HR was meant to get back to me this week but hasn't, and I don't know what her name is .So I was wondering if I should email the company and ask them what thee story is ?

I'd wait until after they're supposed to get back to you. If they said "this week", then I'd leave it until next week.

If I was job-hunting, I would never answer a call to an unknown number while on a bus. You're certainly not going to give a good impression if you're unprepared for the call and struggling to hear them. Let them leave a message, and call them back.

They might say, "ah feck him, won't even answer his phone.. Can't be having that .. Ring the other lad and offer him the job "

Thanks for the advice, I'll wait til next week.

I'm at a stage whereby I can't afford to miss calls, so thought of non answering because it's a blocked number is out of the equation.

Answer and apologise that you are on the bus and can I have your number so I can phone you back in ten minutes in a quieter spot. Then get off the bus and phone back. Its definitely worth the price of a bus ticket if it helps get you a job.

If it were to happen again this is what I'll do.

I did answer the call but was waiting to hear back from them this week.
