Ive read a few people saying you can work (part-time) while on BTEA. What is the official amount of hours you are allowed to do before they will cut you off?

Im currently on VTOS and they say you can work while on it, to a reasonable amount where it doesnt interfere with your studying. But I heard there was possibly a set number of hours for BTEA you are allowed to work?

If you are allowed to work some hours while on it, does it in anyway affect susi grants etc?

Also summer work.. as i understand it, you have to come off BTEA for the summer and you can sign back on, just for the summer. Could you just get work for the summer instead and not sign on, and still get your BTEA payment after the summer is over? Will the amount earned affect BTEA or susi?

Q7. Can I work part time and claim BTEA?

Yes, provided that your course is a full-time course, earnings from part-time employment do not affect the basic BTEA payment. However, any income which you or your spouse get is assessable for Rent Allowance, Mortgage Interest Supplement or Fuel Allowance and so these payments may be affected.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Hi OP, I was previously told that 20 hours is the limit, however like you I have never read anything that states it officially. For a full time course I would say 18 - 20 hours would be plenty as you have assignments and stuff to do, I know our University recommends not working more than that.
