Hi, Can anyone point me to a website that shows how to lay out your CV to send to prospective employers in Aus. I believe that there is a certain format for it which is different to the way it is done here in Ireland. I have been in touch with a migration agency who wanted 500 sterling to transfer my cv to this australian format and I simply cant afford to pay that amount for such a service.

Any help on this or on how to do a cover letter would be really appreciated.
    Thank you.

Holy crap! Even if you had STG500 to waste I'd hope you'd have the good sense not to give it to some chancer to cut and paste your CV into a Word template? Some of these agents really have no shame...

Any agency you register with will help tailor your CV as a matter of course. There is ample free advice and templates on Aussie recruitment sites and agent's websites. For starters, take a look at:

Sounds like a con, CV is exactly same as back home.

    Like in this format
    Name
    Address
    Phone
    Visa Status

    1) Objective
    2) Background
    3) Career Statement

(^no more than 3-4 lines for each)

    4) Experience: job title: description of duties (starting with recent)
    5) Experience: job title: description of duties
    .
    .
    .
    .
    etc

(^no more than 3-4 lines for each)

    8) Education (Obviously University/Degree/courses etc )

    (^no more than 2 lines)

    9) General Secondary Education. (1 line will do here details unnecessary self explantory)

    10) Other training/Information
    First Aid etc
    driving License etc
    EPA Licence etc

    References x2

Your CV should be 2 A4 pages min --3/4 Max

Don't put in any rubbish about working in xtra vision, or that you have a black belt in stamp collecting no one wants to read crap.

There is no special CV to get sponsored job, you just need skills that are in demand and that no permanent resident can found to fill the role.

Thank you Mandrake for your reply. I will follow the layout you have provided however as I have just completed a BA Hons degree in Early Childhood Education in May, I have work experience only in this through placement programmes as part of my course. Should I mention these blocks of unpaid experience under the work section. All my jobs previous to returning to college were more of the secretarial - admin type of work.

Yes if its relevant experience to the role you are applying for, you should always tailor your CV to suit the job you are applying for.

Do not pay some clown 500 to do this, that is wrong. There are too many companies trying to make easy money from people searching for jobs.
