Hey folks thought I'd post this here; my friend is organising this collaborative art project in Market Square Dundalk and it promises to be a great day out.

"The project aims to recognise identity while celebrating different cultures throughout Louth and Dundalk. The event will involve the installation of a large open air canvas in the heart of Market Square. Over the course of the day people from all walks of life are invited to come and dip their fingers and thumbs in paint and offer their personal contribution to an original painting. The work on completion will take the form of a black and white profile portrait of an anonymous subject and be produced by the combination of collected fingerprints.

As the event's coordinator Brian McKillop explains, "By fostering creative collaboration between minority groups and the native community the intention behind the project is to represent the uniqueness and diversity inhabiting our society. The open canvas symbolizes the shared social space in which we leave our impressions. As its title suggests, 'Anonymous' also reminds us of the darker side of personal and collective identifications which can lead to exclusion and a refusal to acknowledge the rights of others. Most importantly, however, 'Anonymous' aims to be a celebration of our collective creative potential, an art of the people, by the people, for the people."
