Big sticky mess!

Car is parked near a sycamore. For the last couple of weeks there appears on the car a coating of thousands of tiny clear dots - sticky enough that a swarm of little flies has become stuck to the roof! I understand from google results that this may be insect excretions, honeydew.

Has anyone experience of dealing with this? Washing the car has only given a few hours respite, spraying the tree is not an option. Is the paint going to be damaged, would waxing the car protect it?

Its a pain, i used to have a parking spot in work under one. It ruined the wipers much quicker too. not much you can do, its sticky stuff. After cleaning it all off, a layer or two of wax will make it easier to wash off, but washing so often will eventually take the wax off again (after 3 months or so).

I found spraying concentrated car wash solution on the car and letting it soak for a few mins and then using VERY hot water washed it off easy enough.

If a cover is an option, go for it.

Thankfully misleading title is misleading :p

My stuff here is destroyed by parking under trees :(

I thought it was just me

I got the car washed and waxed, and with the heat it's been worse :(

Warm water usually gets it off for me. I park under a Sycamore at home and the car gets covered in it.

I've had to park further away from my house as car got covered in that stuff, not to mention bird poo from birds sitting n the branches.

Wax is always good to protect the paint, particularly if you're going to use solvents or alcohol to remove the sap/excretions.
