Calling Passive House owners effect of current heat wave

Very curious to know how current heat wave is effecting comfort levels in your passive house?

I was in my uncles passive house last week and while it wasn't as hot as this week it looked like every possible window/door in the house was open to some extent

How is the HRV units handling excess heat?
Does your passive house have an overhang or other types of shading?

Would you change any of the design aspects of your build to accommodate overheating if you were at design stage now?

What heat wave - did someone say it was warm - house at 23.5 deg - yes a few extra windows open but only during the day - we have been accused of having air conditioning to keep the house cool !!!

sounds good. Is that with mvhr on bypass or with no fans running at all?

On bypass - the unit asses this itself and determines when they should open

Interesting. Would the same temperature be maintained if the windows were closed (and I wonder at what extra electricity usage?)

It should you have to remover how a passive house works

A very well insulated box which find heat had to get in and hard to get out
    Heated by solar gain

My house has a very high thermal mass so the solar gain would have to work very hard to heat that mass up and all the while the air temp never gets above the external air temp
Despite these warm days the temp is only above 20 for say 8 hrs a day so all the rest of the time the mass is not changing temp
To move that much mass in say 8 hours just by the air is going to take a very long time so hence temp stays stable
An for the electricity - I fitted PV for my part l compliance so the fans run at no cost (

    Hi,

is Passive House criteria - 20 deg all round?

my own house at 24/25 is warmer than I would like - end of terrace, hollow block build c1997, south western orientation.

Is my house performing as effectively? in hot weather.

    James.
