Credit / debit card refunds

    Why does it take up to five days to refund to a credit / debit card when a debit shows up instantly?

    well first they money isn't taken straight away its put on hold in your account so you can't withdraw it, but nether is it in the recipients account........blah blah blah.... technical reason its just a technical reason

    When i lived in Canada a debit would leave my account at the exact time i used my card and a refund would go straight on my card the moment the shop did it. Here the banks just love to hold onto your money and the retailers money for a while so they can make money off it.

    Most of the time, debits show up instantly but the funds aren't actually debited from your account. The funds are just authorised, and taken 3-5 days later.

    It's all <<insert current political party>>'s fault for not burning the bondholders as well as all those <<insert ethnic minority>> coming over here drinking our women and taking our beer and I'm nearly sure <<insert English premiership team>> has something to do with it and all their overly paid players.

    Yes but I can't access them so they're as good as gone from my account.
