Saw what looked like a nice little accessory today.
Shows a picture of a mat on a car dash , with a set of keys sitting on it.

Just handy to grip things that you could throw up onto dash.

Cost3.50 ....I took it out of packet ...nothing sticks to it.

I put it on the dash expecting it to self adhesive to it ..... Nope.

Absolutely no instructions ...any one ever get one of these? Or are they

Just a gimmick . Only genuine replies!!! No smart answers/ comments

Wonder if the heat had an effect on it. The surface of a black dash could exceed 50C in this weather.

If its the thing Im thinking of (a rubber mat about four times the size of a beer mat) then my sister has one on her dash and it seems to do a decent job of holding things like glasses. She has it in a flat little compartment on the dash though; not sure if that makes a difference.

You have to lick both sides of it. (Clean it first)

Are you serious !? Didn't do that ... Do you have to lick it prior to each time you throw something on it !?

Yup, and you have to lick the window as well.

If you can lick it where it is on the dash you shouldnt need to lick it both sides each time.

Why would your keys be on the dash?

Gonna give one side a serious licking ... Not sure -about other side tho ... Doesn't seem " sticky" at all ... Doubt if it will hold anything ... We will see Thks

Super glue everything else onto the other side, to be sure!

Friend swears by one of these for the mobile phone and things.

It's just a rubbery mat with more grip than the dash. Nothing's going to stay on it if you've a heavy foot around bends.

These are just a silly gimmick. I blu-tac smaller items to the side window for easy access and carry a small compressor and air-nailer to hold larger items in place wherever I want them. You get what you pay for. The air nailer is not as effective as the blu-tac for holding stuff to glass surfaces though.

If thats re the blu-tac, fair enough. Not to everyones taste I suppose. If that's re the air nailer, can you forward a link to where you got yours for 3 euro please. Mine was a fair bit more.

Dash plastics are probably too hard for anything to grip on to.

Yup, return the vehicle, not the mat :) JUST KIDDING

And when you hit the brakes?

Honestly can't think of anything more stupid that placing loose objects sitting on a rubber mat square in the middle of your dash.

That doesn't make any sense

Anyway, it was just a cheap shot, no malice intended.

Thats a cheap version of the stuff that they have on boats for stopping your dinner plate sliding off the table when the boat rolls.
The expensive stuff is good, the cheap stuff is rubbish.
Lidl had a version of this stuff for stopping stuff sliding in the boot that was good and grippy but a beige colour.
