Problem with tiny black flies in compost

    Hi,
I am hoping you can give me some advice. I have some plant pot containers and window boxes.

I recently bought some 'John Innes' compost. I planted some bulbs and seeds which are now growing but not in bloom yet. Thing is I am concerned that there seems to be these tiny black flies, probably midges, that seem to be flying about and can be seen in and on the compost itself.

Need a solution to this. How can I get rid of them? If you have any advice please let me know.

    Thanks
