Hi all. We are planning on getting married this November, have contacted the Registrar and contacted the hotel so date wise its perfect and am waiting for a wedding pack to be sent out so that we can then notify the Registrar formally, ie pay the €200.00. My query is does any one have an Order of service template that I could change to suit my own day and I am a tad confused as to how to progress matters as quickly as possible. Any help would be much appreciated :P

We got one from the HSE when we had our paperwork meeting. I haven't looked at it in a few months but from what I recall this is what it is like

    Opening music (optional)

    Welcome from Registrar

    Opening reading (optional)

Knowing of no impediments vow * 2 persons (compulsory)

    Marriage vow * 2 persons(compulsory)

    Own vows (optional)

    Exchange of rings (optional)

    Signing of Register (compulsory)

    Closing music (optional)

Also I think they are flexible as to what you do once you do the compulsory bits and you don't go over your time (which won't be much of an issue with you having it in a hotel). We're tied to the registry office 30 mins. I've been at civil ceremonies where there has been a few different readings and more than 2 songs. Anything you chose to have read or played music wise must not be religious.

As for progressing things quickly if you have the venue booked and someone to do the ceremony then ring the HSE and get a date for your paperwork meeting.

    Hi,
I am having a civil ceremony in September. We are having a blessing after the ceremony. We have invited a priest to the wedding after he does the blessing after the ceremony. We are paying for his room in the hotel too. My question is how much should we give the priest? Thanks

I have it right in front of me, about to send it off to the registrar :)

    -Entrance with song/music (optional)
    -Marriage Introduction
-Three or four lines on marriage
    -Declaration on no impediment
-Here you can have a reading or a candle ceremony if you like (optional)
    -Marriage vows
    -Second reading (optional)
    -Marriage vows
-Third reading and or personal vows (optional
    -Ring ceremony (optional)
    -Declaration Husband and Wife
-Signing register, you can play a song/music if you like
    -Exit with song/music (optional)

You get this at your appointment, the registrar will go through it with you. She also explained all the extra stuff you could have, like the unity candle or a sand ceremony!

Yes they are pretty flexible but the legal stuff must in the order they state. You will get an outline from the registrar for the ceremony and once you include the legal bits in the right order, you can add in readings, poems, candle lighting, music, hand fasting etc. Your registrar will guide you through it so if you are not sure just email your draft to them and they will advise.
