How often should I be getting driving lessons?

I've had two lessons so far 1 last week and one this week still a beginner and it's just basic stop , starting and changing gears so far and keeping in the right lane.
Would it be best to do two lessons a week? or should I leave one week in between? Aiming to have the 12 lessons completed by August will still get more after.
I don't need practice actual driving yet still a beginner . I could do just do the gear/pedals practice without moving the car but don't have access to a car thats why I'm thinking of getting at least 2 lessons a week.
How did/does everyone space out the driving lessons?
Gonna buy a car when the instructor tells me I should get some practise in as I'm still a beginner I only need to do basic gear and pedal work without moving the car.

Done 2/3 in space of 5 days in february. Another like 4/5 in the week before the test (which was start of may) and the rest were spread out in between. I was driving a year nearly already and im a farmer so used to driving but had bad habits! id say go with whatever suits yourself :) Id say save 1 or 2 lessons for very near the test, even right before it! I done this for my test which was on at 10 past 3 and finished the last lesson at like half 2. Also they're can be some good help and tips on some tutorials on youtube from certain crowds. Lessos a week or 2 be grand i say just spread them out a little maybe? Very easy to get fed up with someone if youre in car with them for a few hours a week ha

If you started your lessons right after getting your licence you can do one lesson every two weeks and that will mean your 12 lessons will bring you right up to your six month requirement. It's recommended you get (I think) four hours of driving time in between your lessons with a qualified driver.

Yeah I'm doing 1/2 a week but not getting practice inbetween my instructor said not to bother with what the EDT says about practicing as I'm not ready to go in a car without dual control to practice yet. I'm trying to do them as often as I can if I leave big gaps I end up forgetting simple things and having to try and get comfortable with the wheel again.

I got my first learner permit before 2011 so I dont have to do the EDT lessons . I'm only starting again with my second license and because I've no access to a car, I've been having two per week. I'm going to have to continue this way for a while, expensive as it is but I'm delighted to get the practice in :) Two a week is great. I did 2 together one week(Thursday and Friday) and then had another on the Monday and it worked really well. Could you try that?

Nice to chat to a fellow learner. I got a bit bored at today's lesson. My instructor has not taught me anything new in ages. I'm not making big mistakes, very minor :) My instructor complains that I'm not asking questions , but sure the give me something to ask questions about. Is there a book I could buy? I have the rules of the road but is there something with more detail?

I rarely ask questions my instructor usually asks me questions at the start to make sure I know anything.

I had my first lesson tonight and my instructor said the same. I do not have a car to practice in and he said even if I did I would need a few lessons before I would be able to go out without dual control.

He recommended not leaving more than a week between lesson if I can't practice as it would be too long

Have you paid up front for lessons?

If possible you should try to change instructors and find someone more suited to you.

Where are you based? I am in Dublin, if you are PM me and I will give you the details of my instructor

No I'm in Louth and I pay per lesson . Going to keep going with the next few and see if there's an improvement . I was this close to buying the instructors manual to give me something to go on .

I'm in the same situation, will be doing my third lesson on Wednesday but have only done one Edt, the other one was just a filler/recap because I've no car either and he recommended I wait a while to get one :)
Does anyone else's instructor talk a LOT? Mine is a really really good teacher but when I first get in he's chatting away for ages and it really eats into my hour!!

Oh and I'm going to aim for 1 or 2 lessons a week!

Mine doesn't took that one occasionally we'll talk a little while driving. Usually we'll driving around for maybe 40mins then stop for a small break and to fill in the edt book. Then another 15/20minutes before switching places. Mine said the same that I'm not ready to be without dual control. Although I don't think I'd be that bad without it not on main roads but maybe empty car parks. I'm on the 5th I've found the close together lessons help a lot. I don't how the edt recommends one every 2 weeks.

Everybody here has been taught with dual control. On my first lesson I was driving without any assist and then we swapped over for a few errors that I made such as mirror signal mirror on junctions pulling onto the road. After that, I've been independent where we just drive to somewhere, park and talk about what we are going to do next. Last one I did was roundabouts and that was my third lesson. Have one in the morning and we're trying do more roundabouts and hill starts. Have three done now and fourth tomorrow. Gonna try to get all 12 done before I head away to college and when I'm doing the test, I'll book a lesson to refreshen on anything I may have missed when I was practising.
