Can i get Braces with alot of fillings!

Basically i got allot of fillings, the majority of my teeth are filled with amalgam and 3 white fillings, plus i had a premolar pulled. So i want to get braces, i got a crooked jaw and it dominates my face. Im in my late 20's. Another problem is GAPS between my teeth which are filled with amalgam, will the filled gaps…

Basically i got allot of fillings, the majority of my teeth are filled with amalgam and 3 white fillings, plus i had a premolar pulled.

So i want to get braces, i got a crooked jaw and it dominates my face. Im in my late 20's.
Another problem is GAPS between my teeth which are filled with amalgam, will the filled gaps really impede me getting braces?
It really depresses me, i was such an idiot in my late teens early 20's for not looking after my teeth. And im just too embarrassed to visit a orthodontist!

Any info would be great.

PS - I realize braces don't necessarily fix a crooked jaw, either way can i get braces regardless.

The short answer is yes, loads of people have a bunch of filling and get braces.
