Ah man, I hate it when they don't go into proper details, but the idea of...
But Lord Justice Beatson and Mr Justice Irwin ruled he had "failed the legal test" to receive an award.

...being needed is nuts. He appealed a conviction and was seemingly unjustly locked up for a long time. What the hell need is there for him to be tested when he's appealed a wrongful conviction?

I feel so bad for this guy, he is also a victim in all of us this. So unjust not to be awarded compensation for ruining an innocent persons life!

apparently, he's been deemed 'not innocent enough' to have a realistic chance of compensation.

I think he has family in Ireland (Cork I think). He may even live here himself now.

I would hate to think it's becasue he's been deemed "not innocent enough" as someone suggested - in my book you're innocent or guilty, end of.

What might be at play here is that while he was and is innocent, there was no actual "miscarriage of justice" - everything was done "by the book and correctly" but the evidence convicted the wrong man. If the police had been negligent or abusive in their investigation it would be a different matter.

Yeah, it's what they call unreasonable doubt.

He called in to my uncle's shop in Cork last weekend. My father popped in and was trying to get his brother's attention, but there was this fella at the counter, and my uncle looked preoccupied.

He (Barry George) was telling him all about who he was, when he was in the news, etc. Not right in the head obv. My uncle was unsurprisingly a bit freaked out.
