Yep I am going to be a Chugger. It is the only job I can get as a person who just finished his Leaving cert(I have looked everywhere). So is it as bad as everyone says it is. I know I am going to be selling scratch cards. Also do they really pay you 350 a week. I had the interview this morning and the guy seemed very nice. So for people who have tried this, is it good?

Who told you they pay 350 a week? They pay you one euro for each scratch card you sell.

I haven't done it myself, but a few friends have and absolutely hated it.

It's every bit as bad as you heard. Just do a search on here for people who've worked for them.

Only you can determine whether you experience it as bad.

Good luck, but don't let it ruin your entire summer.

I did this years ago when I just finished the leaving cert, about 8 years ago....wow I feel old! It was grand, did it for a few weeks and met one of my best friends from it. Try it out for a week, go into it with a good attitude and if after a few days you think it's definitely not for you just let them know, they'll be fine about it!

Obviously it can be tough, but you will get thick skin from it and develop great communication skills, meet some ok/very nice people, get some experience working, which is what you want to be putting down on a cv! :)

Just keep smiling and let the inevitable wave of abuse wash over you, don't take it personally.

    PS: Fvck You! :pac:

Well I worked for the whole day yesterday and sold ten scratch cards, apparently this has never happened before, they said people usually only sell three the first day. Most of the people who bought the tickets where french and Saudi Arabian tourists( I speak arabic and French). The abuse wasnt too bad(I just couldnt stand it when they gave you the hand, that was humuliating as fu c k). They only gave me 10 euro for six hours of work. And guess who sold the most, the girls that have almost all of their tits out. I swear if you saw them you'd think their hookers. I really dont like the approach they are taking towards this, non of the supervisors seem charitable at all. for example they told us that "no one will win" at the start. Anyways I hate scratch cards and gambling in general, so the only thing that bothered me was that I felt like I was scamming people. hence therefore I called them today and told them I quit. Oh yeah the 350 euro a week is total bull. Even the good guys I met over there only earned about 150 a week.

Fair play for giving it a shot. Speaking Arabic and French should make some real jobs available to you, keep an eye on jobs.ie for PayPal and Twitter jobs, they usually have entry level jobs for bilingual people!
