Bit of a general question - best tell us what range you are looking at - CX or MTX etc?

the name was from an american company that was bought out by case/IH back in the day. when case jointed up with NH they had to sell off part of the company so the case's became mccormiks, they were bought by landinis parent company.

McCormick Tractors International Ltd. manufactures a complete range of tractors for agricultural and general use. The company was formed in 2000 when Case IH divested assets in order to gain European Union regulatory approval to merge with New Holland Ag. The initial assets of McCormick were the Case IH tractor manufacturing plant in Doncaster, England and the rights to the Case IH model C, CX, MXC and MX Maxxum tractors. Most of the remainder of the Case IH and New Holland assets became CNH Global.
McCormick is a subsidiary of ARGO SpA.
The Doncaster plant was the headquarters of the McCormick company, named for the McCormick family of Chicago. The plant has a long history of producing tractors previously for Case IH and International Harvester.
In December 2006, ARGO SpA announced that the Doncaster facility was to close with the loss of around 325 jobs. The statement immediately hit the local news, not only for the job losses, but also because the announcement came a week before Christmas.[1] All McCormick tractor production moved to Fabbrico, Italy. The Fabbrico site previously was the main Landini factory, but now manufactures equipment for several brands in the ARGO group.
The last tractor rolled off the Doncaster assembly line in December, 2007, an XTX series tractor.[2] The Russian company KamAZ is negotiating to purchase the tooling for the XTX series. McCormick still maintains a sales and marketing office at the site, but McCormick has already sold the Doncaster plant and is leasing it back until they conclude business there.[3]

Yes but the op has not said which range he is looking at, if it was CX or MTX it is more like a Case IH.

If on the other hand, it was a C Max, then it is more Landini.

The same can also be said for the newer models introduced over the past year or so.

Some of the models are still like Case with a different engine such as the MC range.

you hear a lot of mixed stories about the older cases and landinis, i know lads that luv them and hate them. I think its very much down to the models. uncle had one for while and taught it was great, fantasic ploughing tractor, changed cos he wanted some thing with a loader that could fit into a shed.

We bought a CX90 a few years back, it was only 2 yr old when we bought it with 500hrs on the clock. Had to replace the lift pump on it the second day we had it home and have replaced more in line filters on it more than i care to remember and it gets all filters changed very very regularly. Have replaced the starter on it twice and last year it had a full meltdown - eventually after splitting and gutting it completely found a filter in the back end had been put in wrong way round by the service dept and it had broken up completely so there were tiny particles of steel all through the back end - similar to the way the old 674s or 784s used to be if you drove them with the handbrake on.

Its a great tractor for yard work and does all the sowing fert, topping, drawing bales but would be a bit light for our land for anything more than 1100 tanker. Its a good gripper and had plenty of grunt for 90hp, but while the visibility is great out of it the oul lad has still broken the glass doors twice.
We've 6000 hours on it now and spent too much on it to trade it in, but its a great tractor when its going right compared to the NH 5060 for turning circle and yard work, also has the lift arm buttons on the mudguards which is great help. to be honest i think we just got a bad un and a poor dealership who tried to wash their hands of it.

I have the CX105. I have it 5 years now and I have to say, I have no complaints at all with it. its a great farmers tractor in that it's handy around the yard but strong enough in the field also (I pull a 1650 tank no bother albeit flat land). Great view out of it also.

in the 5 years, I have put in a new battery and recently put 2 new bushens in the front axle, other than that, nothing.

a neighbour of mine had one a few years ago and his gave a lot of problems, mainly electrical but don't know the detail. He certainly wouldn't go back to one (he since bought a case).

I guess you can be lucky or unlucky so not sure if this post is helpful to you but I can tell you now that if I were to change in the morning, I'd be going for the exact same tractor/model again.
