    Hi all,
I hope to be attending college in Maynooth in september god willing. Being on the job hunt at the minute I was just wondering what is the protocol for say working in like the on campus shop or something?

Also is having a part time job as well as attending college being realistic , either in the college itself or the town of Maynooth? Would they accomodate to lecture times and so on?

If any of you Maynooth Boardsies could help me out it would be great!

You can try Roost (evenings) and Chill (between lectures), If I were you I wouldn't count for canteen unless you will be free between 10 and 3 every day. They didn't want to accommodate my lecture times in first year (even though I only had a lecture from 12-1). I hope this will help

Thanks for your reply really helped! , bummer , does the same principal apply for jobs in the town? .. Also does the town employ many students or?

Is having a part time job a good idea or does it take away from your studies?

Littering the town with your CV and a cover letter is your best bet. Make sure that you specify whether you'll be able to work during the summer at all. And if you have an idea of what your times might be like that'd help.

The jobs for the summer in the town are pretty much all taken up by locals. The same does apply for the term, you need to get in around August to have any chance, but you don't have a timetable then, so it's difficult. You can get lucky though.

As far as I can remember they were recruiting in Roost about mid-August cause I applied myself. Try Chill as well, although I know many people employed in September who did not make it even till Christmas but you can never know :)

Yea there are good few in Maynooth (Aldi, Lidl, Dunnes and huge Tesco) but I've no idea if they will be recruiting students. You can always try to leave few CVs in Manor Mills, few times I've seen posters saying that they need staff on flexible contracts.

Tesco is 24 hour though, so they might want night staff
