I am heading out for a trip with my missus and an 8 months old monster in a trailer. The trip was planned for some time but we are starting earlier than anticipated due to the second summer this year ;-)

We think about rolling about 40-50km/day and mostly camping. I've prepared the following route:

    http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2826927

Can you please take a look and see if there is anything we should rather avoid or places worthy visiting that I've omitted?

    Particular road recommendations?

Tested or potential camping sites (wild or not)?

    Cheap B&Bs on the way?

Any idea how to avoid Tramore / Yougal hills without a massive detour?

    Cheers!

    Alek

There is a sparsely signposted cycle route (the Kelly route / way? - it has been a while) from Passage East to Tramore which hugs the coast, the roads are not too bad - unless you have a real hankering to go through Waterford.

Bit of a killer hill out of Passage no matter which way you go though.

I would avoid the section of road after wellington bridge known as the new line it is fairly fast 80km speed limit but most go fairly fast on it as it is dead straight, to avoid this I would go left after crossing the bridge at wellington bridge and head down along the coast to saltmills its fairly nice down there. From here work your way to duncannon then onto athurstown and continue ur route. Duncannon always has people camping in the dunes and near the beach and there are a few nice cafes and bars. It doesn't add much onto ur trip and ur nerves will thank u for it. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2828094

The coast road from Tramore to Dungarvan is a bit hilly, but it's also very scenic. The alternative would be to take the N25 from Waterford to Dungarvan which will have a decent hard shoulder all the way except for a couple of sections, but if it was me, I'd still go for the coast road.

I've seen tents pitched in at least one of the caravan parks in Tramore, and there's also a campsite out by Boatstrand (near Bunmahon)

Cheers - I'd rather go for the coast road here, nevermind the hills ;-)

I can't find the Boatstrand on the map though... Do you mean the Bunmahon Strand beach, just south to the village?

Here's a street view with the entrance to the campsite: http://goo.gl/maps/symm9 It says "Members only" on the post to the right - not too sure what being a member constitutes though. Now that you mention it, there's also a caravan park at Bunmahon a little bit further along which may allow you to pitch a tent. You can see it just behind the playground here: http://goo.gl/maps/M1wNw

Cool. Added both to the route. I'll ask about the membership once I get there :-)
