    Hey,
looking for recommendations, planning on going on holidays with a couple of the lads in August. Want something reasonable priced , good atmosphere and with plenty of things to do / see during day.

haha I know asking for this on a budget is rich, we were thinking of Barcelona? Any other suggestions welcome. looking to avoid 'piss up' student holidays with little or nothing in terms of day activities or culture. e.g magaluf, sunny beach etc

Accomodation in Barcelona can be expensive but there are loads of apartments for rent, here's one crowd that rent them out

The Generator Hostel would be another option, if there were 4 of you you could get a room together.

Barcelona is great - Madrid is another great city but would be way too hot in August. Valencia is supposed to be good but Barcelona probably has more going on.

San Sebastian/Biarritz could also be good options, great food and surfing in the latter. You could visit both in the one holiday.

Berlin is a great city for a visit, loads to do and good night life.

I can't recommend Rome highly enough - we got 12 days in June for €600.00, that was including flights (fly with Ryanair) at the moment flights for Rome are only €153.00 return mid to end of August (22-29th of August). We stayed in a four star campsite on the outskirts of Rome (Camping Fabulous) with Vacansoleil in a 'Luxury tent Ottawa' which had everything bar bathrooms which are right across from them - the tent which has seperate bedrooms is €450.00 which if you were going as a group of lads (split between five is 90.00 for one weeks accomodation) so you'd get a week in Rome for 243.00 which is nothing!

And contrary to popular belief Rome isn't that expensive! €12.00 will get you more than the amount of sightseeing you could do in one day (this covers collesseum, palatine hill and the forum).
