Mini tour - West Coast USA

Each year myself and two pals try to get away for a week without any ladies for some sort of event. One year we climbed Kilimanjaro, another went to the Nice Ironman (to watch and do our own mini ti athlon). Anyway one of our trio is in the state for a wedding and just sent on this:

    "Gents,

I am making this drive right now and am seriously dead keen to do a boys run (via bikes) if you are interested. See the link below.

Will take some advance planning but I think we can complete within the 6 day window.

I figure after we do this run (which is one of the most scenic roads in the world) we blow off a little steam in vegas or head to the west cost of Mexico (PV or equivalent).

If you are interested I would like to start throwing around dates in the coming month or two with when we would think it is good. I would suggest summer to avoid much of the rains.

Has anyone any experience of this route? I am the weakest biker and at 110 kg wondering if there are any serious climbs. I am looking for any information of does and dont from anyone who has undertaken a similar spin. Cheers

I haven't done the route myself, but there's quite a few forests and wildlife parks along the way that I can imagine would have a few hills and possibly even mountains.

You'll get away with no rain during the summer, but the humidity is a killer.

I will be well able for the heat and humidity as I live in that climate here.

I am just wondering if there were any must sees or alternatives?

Also any advice on touring in general, bags etc? It will be all our first tour. Usually we just have a bike and water bottle.
