New job, need to supply a tax certificate

Hi,

I've just been accepted for a new job starting next month. I've just finished a postgraduate degree and so have not been employed for a few years and I don't have a P45. I have been asked by the employer to supply a tax certificate which is to be issued to my new employer (I think I get a copy aswell).

How do I go about obtaining this certificate? I've been looking on the revenue site, and I thought I would have to fill out a form 12A. However, this form seems to be for people who are starting employment for the first time. Is there an equivalent form for someone who is returning to employment and does not have a P45?

If you contact your tax office with both your own and your employers PPS numbers (or name and address is probably sufficient), ask them to issue a certificate of tax credits for you for the current year. The certificate will also be issed to your employer directly by the tax office.
