Was posted in bargain alerts a few weeks ago.
Specialized S3 for €89 or the Prevail for €129 meant be over in June but I know my LBS is still doing it. Got the Prevail myself really nice helmet had €60 loyalty voucher from them so it was an absolute bargain would have been just as happy with the S3 if I hadn't used the voucher. Straps on them are far more comfortable than any others I have ever used. Specialized helmets fit me perfectly though so a lot depends on what suits your head.

Look at UK online prices in the UK - only CRC and Wiggle of the main UK-based retailers charge VAT into Ireland. With others you are likely to be getting it VAT-free

Giro Savant on amazon is only about €50 shipped. €80+ everywhere else. Looks nice as well no mushroom head!

Usually you need to send a UK dealer a VAT number to have VAT deducted at source. It's been my experience with work stuff in the past. More info would be welcome!

Cycle helmets are zero rated for VAT in the UK.

went for the Savant. 66 euro from crc. Shipping cost and getting the right size and colour didn't make it worthwhile IMO.

... and that means unless the retailer is registered for VAT in Ireland they use the UK rules (ie zero VAT as noted by PCX)

If a retailer makes a certain amount of sales into Ireland they should register for Irish VAT, but AFAIK only Wiggle and CRC of the major UK-based online retailers have done so

Looked like there was another perhaps Evans or Winstanley. The helmet was advertised at one price. When you clicked through it was more expensive.

A VAT reduction on helmets here might be a positive step towards safety than the RSA giving out stupid luminous jackets.
