    Hi Folks,

Don't know if this is an After Hours or Motor one.

Neighbour of mine had a fine little Opel Corsa.....

A few weeks back it had every window smashed in, turns out he's been

messing with another mans woman :pac:

So i'm guessing rather than pay for a replacing the glass...its a petrol bomb

    time....fire solves all.

Had me thinking, surely the Insurance wouldn't just pay up, would they?

Insurance assessor would be investigating. If he set fire to it himself, I hope he gets caught by the bollocks. I'm paying enough without subsidizing those fcukers!

Report it. It's your premium he's jacking up if he gets it paid out.

Definitely report him. Even if it isn't proved he done it himself it'll delay his claim big time and possibly lessen the amount awarded.

it could just be local creamers torching a derelict car.

I reported a neighbour for having a "parts car" on the street. It is litter, plain and simple.

No doubt there is glass strewn about as well.

On the whole insurance thing... does the OP know the owner torched it?

Also, bear in mind that the guy who smashed up the car is clearly unhinged..

By the same token, if it is fraud, then they won;t pay out, so premiums don't get hit.

The neighbours I reported soon fecked off ...

No such thing as a fine corsa. Thats the stuff I like to hear being done to them

OP are you sure the actual owner lit it themselves? As in did you see them physically lighting it up? Just to cover every angle :)

    Yeah i know him alright.

Car was left with smashed windows for more than a month, kids playing in it.

He came down, threw in his petrol bomb, look at it for a while, then walked

away(to continue his Sunday dinner once he could see it was burning nicely).

When i said fire burns solves all, i was trying a bit of humour :pac:

Do we even know if he is going to try claim insurance and how much is the car worth. I don't think I would report anything unless I was sure he was up to no good as things could get messy for you if he ever found out you reported him.

How would he know? That hotline is confidential.

Like the confidential hotline with the gardaí? Where they won't bother doing anything unless you give them your details so you can be called as a witness later?

Far worse would be if there was an untraceable phone line that convicted people on the work of a caller. The stasi loved that sort of stuff

Shame to see a 4.2 A8 like that but theres a story obviously.

Irrespective of the insurance position, torching a car in that manner is likely to constitute criminal damage even if he owns it outright. Also, setting a fire in a residential area is equally likely to be a criminal matter. I would not be willing o live next door to someone who would do that type of thing. Next you know, the fires will be spreading to your property.

We all know what a Corsa looks like......

But we can't be sure that it was worth wrecking/burning......without a pic of the...... woman :) :pac:

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Follow up, on this car is gone, guess my neighbours plan worked.

Management company took away the burnt out remains.

Rang the insurance hotline and told them what i knew.

Hopefully things will come around to bite him on the ass :D

Make sure you report it. Must likely will not make any difference as claim is small would not justify investigation but it might add to something that the assessor may already have

    Fair play to you.

Torching a car is phenomenally dangerous. To do so in a residential area is, as pointed out, utter scum-bag behaviour. A quiet word to the Rozzers might be useful, citing concerns and fears...
