Heading to Russia with new iphone

Heading to Russia soon and have recently purchased Iphone 5 billpay, its seems to have changed my former settings re roaming etc,was pay as you go. What should I do re settings to avoid silly cost when in Russia, will probably just use the net and the odd text and wi fi when possible. thanks

Just switch off data and use phone as little as possible as roaming is expensive there. Free WiFi is common enough in restaurants in st Petersburg at least..
