As average club golfers what is the biggest and best golf event we can enter Worldwide?

What event would you most like to play in, that you can play in..Don' say the masters...?

I think the British Amateur is only open to handicaps of 2 or less and The Open to scratch or better.

Biggest ones that I have seen or at least tried to qualify for are the Volvo thing with Golf Digest and The Audi Quattro Cup. The Audi one has qualifying in 49 countries so it is quite big.

I meant for the average club golfer, not scratch golfers.
Whats the biggest and best prize you have ever won?

Sorry guys, didn't realise ye meant for all handicaps. Just thought ye were saying the highest level competition an amateur can play.
Any with handicaps will always be open to a bit of abuse and banditry

Biggest/best was a competition from work, 4 winners went on all expenses trip to play in a golf competition in the states, worth $2.5k/head at the time which covered flights/accommodation/car/competition fees. I was lucky enough to win it the last time it was ran.

Watched most of last years tour, they show it on Sky Sports (highlights). There's been a few Irish lads on it alright, but can't remember where they were from.

Not sure what, if anything, is required to get into the televised phases. Think they have approx 8 events.

Oh ya... You've to wear one of those silly hats when competing.

I played in the Trilby tour this year saw it on TV and said I would give it a go.Strange atmosphere to be honest you have to stand behind the tee half an hour before your tee time so it looks like there is a crowd there for the TV.I played in Hollins Hall the course was very short so to make it tough they put pins on slopes.Unfortunately I played like muck on the day and didn't qualify for the top ten you play off three quarters handicap. The outfits look cool and a lot of the Uk guys plan there whole year around it and preserve there handicap for it.Was good to see it but don't think I would be rushing back.

To me that sums up the problem with these type of competitions

Interesting that they had to have the players stand behind the tee-box to create a crowd/atmosphere.
What would it take to get crowds to come an see an amateur golf event?

The sponsor Willian Hunt stands on the first tee and was stupidly strict he was saying how he had disqualified a player earlier that morning for being 29 and not 30 minutes early for his tee time I hope he was joking about this.Gps wasn't allowed in the comp and the yardage markers on the course weren't great I was playing with a scratch golfer and he was going mad about it.

    I don't see why the Pro's have 4 majors a year and the World's 60,000,000 amateurs don't have 1?

    Time for a change?

60,000,000 amateurs can play in both Opens and get invites to The Masters, not sure about the PGA?

I think the Irish lad who won the Trilby last year was playing off 15 and in the playoff holes(3 holes) was -1 for the three to win, along with that he had shot 36pts or better in all rounds, if he is playing off 3/4 handicap there is something up.

Would love to give it a go, but can't play to my own handicap not to mind 3/4:D!!

The Golf Digest events seem very good and the feedback I have heard is that it is like a pro event with the set-up/starter/prizes and the scores haven't been outrageous either which is a good sign!

I am talking about average golfers 8-18handicap.
Would love to know how you qualify for the Masters playing off 14 lol

Ahhhhh yes, you're looking for something like the FIFA Pub Team World Cup or the Tour de France for heavy smokers.... Which also don't exist.

Do you think that average club golfers would crack-up under the pressure if big prize money was involved?
