Certificate of ownership typo ; NCT & tax disk questions

    Hi,

I've recently purchased my first car in Ireland so I'm very new to this.

It's used car and I've bought it from dealer. Dealer clamed there's no tax on the car but NCT till next year. However there was no disks and I've been told NCT cert will be delivered with all other docs.

Now I finally got certificate of registration and paper with pin for motortax.ie.
However, there's a typo in my surname.
Also, looks like it's other way: paper with pin says car is taxed till next year.

I will contact dealer on Monday, but meanwhile maybe anybody had similar experience.

What's the easiest way to fix typo in registration cert?
How do I check what dates tax & NCT are actually due?
How do I get disks for displaying tax & NCT are ok?
Should I fix registration cert before worrying about tax & NCT?

Sorry for stupid questions, it's all confusing for me.

No offence, this sounds really dodgy. Why were the disks removed? Its actually an offence not to have them displayed and there is no reason for a dealer to remove them. Did you subsequently get them from the dealer? Do you have them now?

Get the registration book updated with Shannon (Motor Tax office) and be sure thats all correct. Thats not a big problem and should take only a few days.

MotorTax.ie and the pin should give you the best indication about the tax. But you need the disc on the car. Having it taxed is not enough. You can request a replacement disk if you need to.

NCT, quickest option is probably to ring them.

have a look at the log book and see when the date of first registration is. If the car is under ten years old it goes on its 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th birthday after that every year due on the anniversairy of its first registration

Don't suppose you could tell me when tax/nct expired on a car I bought? It's out a few years and would be interesting to find out.

    Car is '97.

ironclaw, cheers mate! Your reply is really helpful.

I'll call dealer and ask about why they've removed disks.
