Any ideas folks? We're based in Berlin and we will only fly somewhere that we can reach with a direct flight..a stopover is out of the question for us with the little fella.

We'd be looking to fly out for 2 weeks in mid January (I have a month's parental leave then) and I'm scratching my head thinking of somewhere with warm enough weather that fits our criteria.

I would have considered North Africa but with the political situation the likes of Egypt is obviously out now :(

    What about Morocco?

I would suggest the Canaries, particularly Lanzarote or Fuerteventura. I've been to Lanzarote in early Febraury, and hopefully going back again in 2014.

You should be able to find direct flights without too much hassle; the weather is warm without being too hot (20 - 25 degrees), accommodation should be cheap and the island fairly quiet (more relaxing) compared to high season. Lot's to do, from art galleries to the national volcanic park, vineyards, beaches.

Canaries would be nice and Lanzarote is great for kids. Have you considered the Costa del Sol in Spain. Have been there a few times in December and always had lovely weather. Check out Sunset Beach Club hotel in Benalmadena. Really set up for families.

We've just booked a holiday in October and will have a 4/5 month old by then. We're going to Madeira - I'm not 100% sure you can go there later in the year but it's worth checking out. Just a bit different to the Canaries and we're staying in a 5 star hotel and it's not super expensive. It has an indoor pool as well as outdoor ones and bars and restaurants in the complex which was a big plus for us with a small baby. If we want to stay near the hotel for any reason, we can.

We also looked at Tunisia which was much cheaper but a lot of the hotels had bad reviews and we were also slightly concerned by the situation in North Africa.
