To everybody who watched UFC 162

How did you watch UFC 162? The reason i ask is that yet again a UFC PPV has failed to record on my TWO UPC boxes. I called UPC to complain and they have blamed ESPN saying that ESPN did not have the broadcast rights to show UFC 162 in Ireland which seems like bull to me. So, to everyone who watched it last night can you help me out and tell me if you watched it on ESPN on a UPC box? Seems to me that that's the only place that you can watch it Ireland unless you've found a way of watching it online for free?

Would also be interested to hear from anyone who had the same problem with this UFC or previous ones.

    Thanks!

I watched it on ESPN on UPC, tired today, good card though. I'd say UPC are making up excuses there

Thanks for the replies. Please keep them coming. Need to build up a strong enough case so i can go back to UPC and go nuts! Surely, if they have given out incorrect info like that, then it's illegal. If you watched it last night or recorded it on a UPC box then please post a response.

In the meantime - i might have to go watch it on ufc.tv. Ridiculous seeing as though i've already paid UPC for my ESPN package but i've been waiting months for this fight.

Did you have space on your box for the recording?
Got stung with that alot before.

Watched it live on ESPN on UPC. However, I recorded the Confederations Cup final last week and it failed to play back on my UPC box. This happened once before as well.

failed to record on my UPC box last night. I was like a ****ing antichrist this morning when I realised. I'll be venting to UPC tomorrow...........

OP, I forgot to mention this earlier but I was having a lot of problems with upc not recording stuff. Then sometimes it would record but wouldn't play back or else the picture was distorted.

They replaced the box free of charge and I haven't had the problem since.
Might be worth your while trying to get them to replace the box and see if that sorts it.

I have problems sometimes with my UPC box if I want to record 2 programs that follow each other. For instance when the UFC prelims are on ESPN before the main card (like last night for instance). I'd go to watch them the next morning to find that the prelims had recorded fine but there was no main event :(

Talking to UPC about it just ended up with them swapping the box & the next event something similar would happen. It's just some scheduling glitch that happens sometimes with their EPG or software or the clock on the DVR box or the gremlins are playing tricks on me!

The way I avoid this happening now is instead of recording the two programs separately, go into the menu, select 'Set Repeat Recording' & put in the time & channel information manually. If the prelims are starting at 1am & the main show is over at 6am I record from about 12:30 til 6:30. Since I've started recording UFC shows this way my box hasn't messed up or missed a recording once. It takes about 30 seconds longer to set up that just pressing the record button but you're certain to be watching what you wanted the next day.

Hope this helps, I've a feeling ringing UPC about this is just going to end up with you banging your head against a wall somewhere! :pac:

Failed to record on my horizon box as my guide wasn't showing the show however prev had it on series link. Also failed to record when I set up a manual recording. Have been bitching about it on the horizon thread and to upc.

Hi all, thanks again for all the replies. The internet is a wonderful thing! :-) thanks to everyone on here, I had plenty of evidence to go back to UPC and complain about them giving me false information. They are "looking into it internally" and will get back to me although i was supposed to receive a call from their complaints dept but that hasn't happened yet. Regarding the problem itself: they basically have no idea why it's happening. They offered to send somebody out to my house, despite them already telling me that it's not issue with my box because the same thing happened on two different types of boxes. So, I asked them why exactly were they sending somebody out but they couldn't really answer that question. So, basically they are continuing to look into it but it seems like something that's going to drag on for while. Signed up for UFC.tv last night and watched UFC 162 online. Tempted to cancel my ESPN\Setanta package with UPC and just watch the fights on UFC.tv. haven't made up my mind yet though because i'm curious to see how much extra UFC programming we'll get when ESPN switches over to BT sports next month.

To reply to some of the posts on this thread:
Yep, i've got plenty of space on both boxes so this isn't the cause of the issue.

Re: manually setting recordings: seems like the thing to do from now on. Will definitely give that a go. thanks for the advice.
