It seems to me that saorview is long forgotten by RTE.

If OP means that Saorview boxes are cheap poorly designed and yet costly boxes then yeah i think the Irish Govt who havent a clue about technology made a sheer mess of rolling out DTV.

OP probably means that it isn't being promoted or developed.

I don't think the government had any input into the design of the receivers.

A rather loooonng pause methinks:). I don't think they are in any hurry tom launch mux 2. Is there really a need for it? I have'nt heard of a stampede of outfits looking to launch new stations on it.

I agree its only the promise of HD rather than softvision that will get it going.

It's only a replacement of the rubbish Analogue Network which never reached UK 1979-1982 standards.

The boxes are nothing to do with RTE or Government and are only for older TVs. Or Dumped UK TVs.

The problem is more with UK Multiple chains, Retail generally and the crap nature of most AV products today.

Product life and reliability and Audio quality is now poorer than 1980s.
Ergonomics on many products is a disaster.

None of this is to do with Saorview which sets no product quality or usability standards.

5 posts in 5 different threads by the OP since he/she joined on Fri and account closed by 5:30 this evening with no further input to any of the threads that were started by the OP .

OP please post more than just a very vague statement without any reasons when starting a thread. If you come back to Boards, that is.

Normally I'd still move this thread to Terrestrial, but given the nature of the OP, the fact that they've closed their account, and the fact that there's plenty of scope to debate RTÉ and Saorview on Terrestrial I'm simply gonna close this thread. This doesn't stop anyone who actually does want to debate this issue starting a new thread over in Terrestrial.
