Spray paining x thieves

    Hi everybody,

I'm aware this is a naive question, but... ;)

Do you think that spray painting a new bike in a customised way (ie wacky super colourful) would decrease the chances of getting it stolen? As it would be less obvious it's a new bike and it wouldn't be aesthetically appealing to the thieves? ;)

From what I could gather from posts here, it seems like once you've done the basics - good lock, proper way of locking, not locking in too dodgy areas - there's not much more you can do to increase the chances of having your bike safe from thieves in Dublin.

How about customising it though? Or is the bike colour relevant at all to thieves?

    Thanks a million!!

TinyExplosion on here had a bright pink Planet X stolen a while ago that he recovered. They just resprayed the frame shoddily and sold it on.

Camouflage paint and park your bike in a hedge or up a tree should help

two good locks, and a good area...even if you have to walk for a bit. I covered my bike in duck tape s couple of years ago and ruined it. Didn't stop them having a go at taking it
