Just heard a ferocious overhead rumble overhead and noticed a large aircraft (B747) pass out over Irish Sea and head for EIDW. A quick check on Flightradar shows AF6735 on approach. It should be heading for CDG from ORD. See attached

    Anyone any idea's what's up?

Bit unusual for a cargo to be landing this late. Unless I'm mistaken, the profile of its approach suggested it looked like its rate of decent was quite quick.

I had her down to 4000ft and decent rate was 2500fpm

yup as they would slow up the decent rate when they get closer to the rwy

Have to say that an aircraft of that size passing low and directly overhead at this hour of the night was a tad unnerving. :D

Ah no, its not that. I'm used to aircraft passing low over us, particularly the incoming transatlantic stuff from around 5am. None are 747's and certainly not at this hour!

What's that got to do with this topic.

The Air France 747/777 cargo flight is scheduled every Saturday it must have been late its usual in during the day around 1-2.
