    Hi,

I've just finished second year of the bachelor of music course in Maynooth.

The simplest answer is yes, the main focus of the course is largely on classical music, mainly because we go deep into the semantics of music theory, and useful examples are best found in classical music. You wouldn't really find much of the twelve tone row in pop music, for example.

The modules focus on practical, theory, history, musicology and composition. In your final year you have to choose to major in either musicology, practical or composition.
