Hey there. I have a Gamecube and im hooking it up to a modern enough LCD TV. Ive got the regular RED WHITE YELLOW connections. However, with the connectors into the TV either straight in or with a Scart adapter, its impossible to play. Its completely washed out, so bright its impossible to play. I've messed with the brightness, contrast etc. but no joy. Any ideas?

Is that a Samsung TV by any chance?

There were component cables sold for the Gamecube, maybe check ebay?

Its a Targa TV, my PS2 works fine on it using the same R/W/Y RCA style cables.

Weird. I mailed GameStop in the hopes they might have an inventory they could search for a GC component cable. They mailed me back saying that the Wii component cable works on GameCube ?? I thought the connection on the console end was different ??

I thought the NTSC Gamecube could output component, and the PAL Gamecube had native RGB instead?

Either way, the proper Ninty GC Component Cables were huge money last time I looked..if you can even find one.

I got lucky and got an old model GC. It's got an analog and a digital output on the back.

RGB cables for both your Gamecube and PS2. They're cheap too.

Get rid of that composite muck!

I'd advise any console cables you get from consolegoods, a lot of the ebay one are advertised as full rgb & arn't, or are poorly made ones. At least with consolegoods, despite paying a little more, you get the good stuff

So I got the RGB cable and no joy. looks as bad as ever. Looks like I need to invest in a CRT for the game cube or bite the bullet on the component cable.

Fairlly sure PAL games don't support the component resolutions, & your issue sounds like a sync issue. My GC via RGB looks terribly oversaturated/washed out on my Samsung 32", but looks perfectly fine on my Pioneer 42". Apparently, Samsung tv's use a different way of dealing with sync that other tv's do, maybe your tv is based on Samsung hardware/is a clone?

It's not a great TV, it's a Targa that I got for free. But honestly everything works great on it. I don't really want to have to buy a new TV so I can play my GameCube !

Have you tried the Cube on another tv?

Maybe just pick up one someone is giving away for free to test it?

There's a few old CRTs on Jumbletown right now:
