Yellowing due to enamel erosion

Is there anything I can do? My enamel erosion has got pretty bad in the last 2-3 years. The dentist reckons it started in childhood as a result of drinking pure apple/orange juice every day (parents had no idea about enamel erosion), it was noted by the dentist when I was 18 and I was told not to drink fizzy drinks (I rarely did anyway) or pure juice. He never mentioned wine, and as ridiculous as it sounds, I didn't think about how acidic wine was and started drinking that rather than vodka/coke or vodka/orange when I went out. Also didn't realise that you shouldn't brush your teeth too soon after drinking wine, so did a lot of damage that way as well. So my erosion went from mild to serious - my teeth are now pretty yellow with ridges in and lots of chips. It's really upsetting as I used to have perfect teeth.

I do look after my teeth well and visit the dentist/hygienist regularly, but it's not enough. I've been told whitening wouldn't work as I've lost too much enamel. I can't afford veneers or crowns. Is there anything I can do?

    Whitening will work.
Treat the cause first and foremost.
Composite bonding is a good medium term option.

You sure? My dentist says there's little point in trying to whiten now that I've lost most of my enamel. I've mostly cut out all kinds of acidic drinks and have done my best to sort out any other possible causes such as acid reflux. What does composite bonding involve?

Your dentist would know the state of your teeth, but its not only enamel that bleaches, Regardless sounds like you have bigger fish to fry.
