Is Radio 1 Extra the same as Radio 1 Long Wave?

I listened to some RTE digital radio last year on DAB in Dublin and was delighted to discover that RTE Choice includes programmes from the BBC World Service, Deutsche Welle and NPR, among others. They produce excellent documentaries and current affairs programmes and it's fantastic that they're now readily available.

Recently, I've been able to listen to these stations through my Saorview-enabled TV and I've noticed that many programmes air simultaneously on R1Extra and Choice. As far as I can tell, Radio 1 Extra is the feed used for 252 Long Wave. Unfortunately I don't have a LW radio handy to find out for sure. Does anyone know if this is correct? If so, I'm delighted that these programmes are available over the air in Ireland, albeit on Long Wave.

No Radio 1 LW is the same as FM 95% of the time

Thanks Zadina. I thought it was odd that FM programmes would be excluded from LW, since so many people in GB use it to keep up to date with home.
