    Guys,

Thought I should post this here with all the 1st time builders posting here.

Did my 1st build the other day and PC would only start 1 in about 20 attempts.

Figured out it was the PSU when I connected a different one to the Mobo in work and walla it booted up 1st,2nd and 3rd time with no problem.

I called the supplier and he said he'd send another one out straight away.
I thought I'd do a bit more digging just in case the PSU wasn't compatible with the Mobo and I'd be in the same situation again.
While digging I found out that some PSU's aren't compatible with the Haswell CPU, hadn't read that anywhere!

I e-mailed EVGA and they confirmed this is true and told me to request a Haswell compatible version.

So there you go, anyone buying a Haswell CPU make sure you ask the supplier to give you a Haswell compatible PSU.

Not 2 p1ssed coz I'm still waiting on my Qnix 27" to come, both should arrive together now :)

    Hope this helps.

    Ant

I thought some PSUs weren't able to benefit from Haswell's energy saving features. Didn't know they wouldn't work at all.

    Same here.

Here's a link to an article on it that I just found.

Any psu should work, its just older group regulated units that may encounter crossloading problems.

You sure it wasn't just a dud psu? Most really good modern psu should be using dc to dc conversion to convert 12v to power for its 5v and 3.3 v rails where the above problem can't possibly occur. Although even decent quality modern group regulated units should be fine (like the cx series corsairs for example)

Which unit was it out of interest?

Not all will, below is the mail I got from them, the part where he says "has the Haswell Compatibility" kind of suggests there's 2 versions out there.

It's a decent enough PSU, here's the link to it.

Below is my mail to them and theirs to me.

Ant, thank you for contacting the EVGA Customer Service Team. My name is Jeffrey Lawrence and I will answer your question today.

    Your Answer:

    Hello,

The solution is an Advanced RMA to replace the power supply with one that has the Haswell compatibility. Please provide us with the serial number so that we may set up the RMA to replace the power supply.

    Your Question:

    Hi,

I was googling NEX750g compatibility issue and came accross a post with this e-mail address on it.

The post was from EVGA_JacobF on the below link.

    http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1951733&mpage;=1

    He said:
""We are aware of this on 650/750 models ONLY.
If your system cannot boot and you have a 650/750 model, we do have a solution. ""

I fitted a NEX750G Supernova in my new PC last night and it's not working properly. below is my setup.

It tried to start up but can't, if I hold the power button down it might start 1 in 20 attempts.
I contacted the company I bought it from and they're sending me out a replacement but I'm wondering if it just going to do the same.
Have you as per Jacobs comment a solution for it?
I connected a PSU from a PC in work to my mother board and it started up straight away so it has to be the PSU :(
I hope you've a solution because it goes great with my Black / Red colour scheme.

I would have said dud psu too.

The problem i had read about was to do with haswell running new c-states and idling at to low a voltage for older psu's.
