Pre cat 02 sensor

Looking for advice here. I can hear a chink chink chink sound when I pull off. It seems to go away once I get up to speed. It sounds like it could be a pebble in the wheel or is it more likely to be the Cat. conv. given the errors below. I did get a whiff of sulphur yesterday. The local scrapper says he can give me a suitable cat for 50 euro. Since the car is 13 years old would I be just as well to replace the cat and 02 sensors to be on the safe side.

Sorry about all the questions. Just trying to troubleshoot what I can myself to keep costs down. Thanks.

Your best bet is to replace the sensor first. Since there is no cat related code coming up (P0420) you don't know if the cat is damaged and the ECU does not calculate if the cat is functioning unless both sensors work.

So I think you should just change the pre-cat O2 sensor, clear all the codes, drive it for a bit and then look at what codes come up ;)
