I got offered a place in irish college of humanaties and applied sciences in limerick this morning through CAO, but I'm concerned that I wont be able to get BTEA which I would be qualified for because it is technically classed as a private college, anybody know the story with this as I've looked it all up online and can't find anything that will help me out, and my local social welfare office was closed today so unable to ask them so have to wait till monday, but said I'd ask here see if anybody knew? Thanks

You can BTEA for private colleges. I know someone who attended Pulse College in Dublin and got BTEA.

Once the course is full time and recognised by HETAC (QQI)

    The DSP site says

1.8 Third Level Option ( TLO)

A person may attend an approved third level course of education at any university or third level college or institution.

The course must be a full-time day course of study which is recognised
by the Department of Education and Skills for Higher Education Grant Scheme, or
the Vocational Education Committee's Scholarship Scheme, or
the Third Level Maintenance Grants Scheme for Trainees, or
has Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC) recognition

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
