How do I grass seed varieties. I want to reseed very fertile silage ground in order to get as much high quality and volume of grass. Very deep topsoil. Want to take 2/3 cuts per year. Only want to graze moderately. So abou 80% silage + 20% grazing. How do I learn more? What would you suggest?

You should take a look at the Northern Ireland department of agri DARDI website loads of info on grass and forage far far better than the republics version IMO :pac:

Italian or hybrid it will last 3 -4 years however 2nd cut will twnd to go stemmy. Normal rye grass finds it hard to stand up to a 3 cut system

Italian ryegrass and red clover. No need for nitrogen fertiliser.

Any two good intermediates for a 80% silage system. best overall in terms of yield, D-value and ground cover is Dunluce(T) : Abergreen (D) in a 60:40 no clover. just be wary of Italian/Hybrids and red clover; benefits only last 3-4 years.

I'm thinking of putting some of this in next yr on a plot of land away from the yard that has been in tillage for over 10 years. Has anyone on here got any experience, hear the organic guys use it in rotation before a cereal crop?

What are yields like, I'd imagine they were fairly sh1te last year?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

hybrid RG and RC will yield very well and in most conditions without throwing a heap of fert on it. mind you it will need plenty of K
