    Hey folks
Just a quick question, can the Garda use E-flow ,
I ask because a freind hasn;t taxed his car in 2 months and told me he's going to tell the Garda it was off the road but if he used any of the e-flow toll bridges in that time wouldn't they just check and catch him out ?

They have bigger fish to be catching. They'll stamp the form and send him on his way to the tax office.

Not yet but it's been mooted in the press several times lately that it could happen soon.

eflow works from the tag hanging from the rearview mirror, not reading the licence plate, the eflow system has no way of knowing what car passes through it, only what tag. So your friend could easily say he gave his tag to a friend/family member.

The off the road loophole was closed on Monday. He's going to have to backdate his tax now.

Not only that, they will carbon date the fingerprints of the steering wheel. Your 'friend' better have an excuse why he was sitting in his car for two months without moving or he may as well buy soap on a rope now

The above can't be right ,because if you dont have a tag you can still use the M50 and if you don't pay they send you a letter with your Licence plate number and what you owe ?

...Where did you get that information? If that was the case, how do they know what address to send the bill to when someone goes through WITHOUT the eflow tag? Each tag is registered to a particular registration.

The picture is only taken if you don't have a tag.

If you have a tag, they camera doesn't record your registration.

If the op's friend was using the tolls regularly, he either has a tag or is an idiot.

Takes a pic of your LPN everytime. I put my tag in my wife's car once and it cased meyhem in the eflow system. So yeah, eflow know when each car has been through the toll.

But unfortunately no, Gardai don't currently have permission to use it, would be great if they did tho, catch all those tax cheats.

Depends. If the GS in question looks it up, it could be a talking to or worse.

What I'm sayin' is, if that GS is on AH, your friend is now f`cked.

Suppose you're car is off the road, you still have to pay road tax?

and no the garda dont use eflow to check if a vehicle is taxed. eflow is only used for collection of toll road.
