It'll be the same circuit as last year - http://app.strava.com/segments/1300985

The finish won't be on the small "bridge"-type road used last year and this year in the Christy McManus. Instead riders will continue straight past it and finish somewhere here: http://goo.gl/maps/6QNQ6

Provisional details: racing'll be kicking off at 11am, sign-on in the GAA hall in Roundwood probably 09.30-10.30. Usual €10. A4 race, A3 race, and an A1/2 race. No underage racing.

ignore - buffalo has the details - see above.

I have fond memories of buffalo zooming up my inside on the final corner to take second place in A4 last year. Unfortunately it clashes with the Leinster Final this year so it's a no-show from me (I can't moan about the lack of hills in one day races any more now that I have dodged this one).

Kudos on this change. The finish line for both the Roundwood GP/Christy McManus and (especially) the previous NH finish line were a little dangerous - placing a too much emphasis on that final very fast downhill corner.

Last year was this, presume it's not going to be much different
    A1-A2 - 5 laps/93km;
    A3 - 3 laps/59km;
    A4 - 2 laps/42km.

The hill is a very tough drag. imo it's not as bad as Slaughter Hill, but when some lad from Swords is ahead of you pushing the pace, and you're chewing the handlebars trying to hold his wheel - and failing - then it's tough.

Am I right in saying that with this race being sub 50k (A4 that is) that there will only be points for the first three crossing the line, or some such?

Scant reward for what is going to be a monstrously hard race!

Yep, you're right about the points. You'll have to take the unfairness up with CI though, the club's got no say in it. :)

Finishing will be its own reward.

In my case finishing one lap will be an epic achievement.

It's going to cool down before Sunday, right?

    Race Cancelled

Bad news I'm afraid. The Hammond Memorials have been cancelled. Wicklow council started roadworks on the circuit yesterday
    http://www.orwellwheelers.org/forum/5-racing/4070-hammond-memorials-cancelled.html?start=20#5161

Could one of the mods update the thread title to include this information please?

Rotten news. I know many people in the club put a lot of work into organising it.

Thats such a shame, was really looking forward to this one. Hopefully it can be re-organised to a later date before the season ends

You work hard, get a bit of form and then the season disappears bit by bit...
    Pity that.

Why not use the Christy McManus circuit instead, same sign on etc minimum disruption?

    Hi everyone,
Thanks for the sentiment. Unfortunately yes the race has been postponed until later in the summer, so not cancelled.

We only found out this morning when i went to mark the course that WW Council started digging up the road on Callow hill just this morning, even though they told us ages ago that they were not doing anything!

To change to another course at this stage is impossible as we would have to resubmit a new Safety statement to WW Council and the Gardai and also then go around notifying residents at short notice on the new circuit, you cant just show up on Sunday morning with 300 riders and expect the residents to be happy about it!

But as mentioned we are just postponing to a later date.
    Thanks again,
    Aidan

Please reschedule and don't cancel. Its the only race left this year with a hill in it.

Hmmmm, I wouldn't be so sure. A few clubs haven't released the routes for their end of season races and as said above, it is only being postponed.

With a bit of luck the work the Council are doing will include removing the hill;)

Hope you can reschedule, but if you take a look at calender all the Sundays are gone right up to and including the end of August?Looks like Sat July 27th and Aug24th are the only options unless you go in to September which might nod be a bad thing.Good Luck.

An unfortunate series of cancelations in one days since June.

only heard last night that this was POSTPONED.
That's a pity and outside the organiser control

Shameless plug here, Consider the Wexford 2 day: August 17th and 18th

A2/A3 and A4 and( U 16 one off on Saturday)

    www.wexfordwheelers.com

We have newly discovered hills, that we make you go over a few times, just to be sure, not to mention a hill Time trial. 300 meters climb per lap.

Pushing numbers to reach what we need to ensure the 2 day race can go ahead.

Consider the Wexford 2 day. HQ Hotel are offering reduced rates. See Website.

    We have strawberries !!!:D

    Shameless plug.
