Very unusual, a chopper flew over mallow at 1.40am tonight did 2 laps and headed off in the cork city direction.

dont suppose there is a way of tracking what chopper it was?

Probably one of the Garda helicopters if it sounded small or Coast Guard if it sounded big.

Bingo it was the gardai helicopter most likely looking for grow houses.

Do they still do flights to check for illegal burning?

No I've got bins for rubbish. Just though they may have been doing the checks at night as well as during the day. A fire would be easier to spot at night if it's not billowing out smoke.

It was Rescue 115 out on a tasking to a Spanish fishing vessel 200kms south of Fastnet. They did a refuel in Cork and headed out with an Air Corps Casa as top cover.

Failed to get an injured crewman off the vessel first time due to heavy weather, returned to Cork for fuel and set out again at first light. Successfully winched the crewman aboard and rtb.

Irish Coast Guard Sikorsky S92 "RESCUE118" from Sligo Search And Rescue Base heading to and from Galway University Hospital.

Sounded very low at about 4am this morning. It was back in Tuam just after 4pm today orand landed in a field beside N17.

Was in work so not sure what it was up too.

Sounding very low and being very low are 2 different things, the S92 is a fast and loudish helicopter, the blades can be heard for a long time before you actually see it!

    :)

If it was big and red/white it was "RESCUE118" Irish Coast Guard she left UCHG at 17:00, BUT if it was green then it was the military AW139 "MEDEVAC112" of the Irish Air Corps she was also into UCH Galway today around 16:10.

They all have Facebook pages you can follow if you are on Facebook

Either way at 4am is was loud. The other half wasn't happy :)

Definitely not Medevac 112 this afternoon. When in Tuam a couple of weeks ago they used Tuam Stadium for a patient transfer.

I was seriously tempted to escape to see the S92 up close but don't think my boss has the same level of interest i have in this subject.

The other half was not happy, I hope you are not serious because these helicopters are not flying around for fun, they are bringing seriously ill and rescued casualties into Hospital in the Golden Hour, 118 brought in a criticallly injured patient from a car crash in Drumshambo to Galway, its sad to think that a few minutes loss of sleep can make a person upset, what about the guy in the helicopter his family etc how do you think they feel today , unreal :mad:

Please God he makes a full recovery well done Rescue 118
