Next Monday sees the start of the second ranking event of the new season. Now in its 3rd season the Goldfields Open once again heads to the town of Bendingo just outside Melbourne. Quite a number of the top 16 haven't made the long journey down under so it's no surprise to see Neil Robertson as fav for the event. Irish hopes rest with Ken Doherty & Fergal O'Brien, Doherty plays Marco Fu whilst O'Brien plays Ricky Walden.

The tournament has been a success the last two years and has enjoyed great support from the Austrailian public and the Eurosport viewing figures have been good. However it's the last season as Goldfields as sponsors so a Robertson win on home soil may attract a new sponsor.

The action begins Monday with two wildcard matches.

Here's the draw and playing schedule.........

Do these events now include the new qualifying criteria where nobody (no matter what ranking) gets automatic entry into the tournament?

This particular tournament is being ran under the old tiered system (the higher ranked you are the later qualifying round you start in, with the T16 qualifying for the final stages).
Probably because of prior contractual reasons with the sponsors or tv companies.

Fu beats Milkins 6-4 to reach tomorrows final and beginning shortly is home favourite and world no 1 Neil Robertson against former world no 1 Mark Selby.

    Should be a cracker.
