    hi,
Does any know that how much it cost to have a Kia picanto-2005 clutch /or cable replaced?confused.png

Is it the best to save if I buy the clutch online and have it replaced by the garage service with some fee charged?

Very appriciated for any helpful replies!!

    Pauline

I'm not sure about pricing for that car, but it is cheaper to just let the car garage buy the parts (the clutch) instead of you buying the clutch yourself because if you buy the parts yourself the garage will most likely add mark-up to the repair cost and it will cost you more or less the same.

It is not worth the hassle of buying parts yourself, especially if they do not fit or they break a few days/weeks/months and you want a free replacement from the same garage.

thanks Pov06. two garages quoted to me at cost of 500-600euro which seems quite high.

That does seem pricey. i would try a few car dismantlers for reconditioned parts. some car dismantlers offer warranties with some parts. I've added a link to Traynors Car Dismantlers (Northern Ireland). call them and price it. They deliver to dublin twice a week, tuesday and thursdays i think. I met them recently at the Coachmans pub near the airport. My local garage charge a standard price by the hour. It should take about 2 to 3 hours to change the clutch.

    Good Luck.

A lot of the cost is labour tbh, best to ring as many garages as you can and even try some main dealers.
No way I'd supply my own clutch, you very pretty much no comeback if it goes pear shaped
