    Hi
Parents looking to change and want a "high seated car".
They like this QASHQAI but they are v expensive.

Any alternative with same seated position which they could look at?

Cmax is a nice position, though a little tight inside.

Not sure what you mean there ... I used to have a C-Max and now have a Qashqai and there's little difference between them, although I'd say the C-Max felt ever so slightly roomier than the Qashqai if anything.

    what about a dacia duster?

The Qashqai has only the same interior space as a regular mid size hatchback. It was initially designed to replace the Almera. It's a crossover made to look like a SUV with high ground clearance, beefy looks and high driving position being it's biggest appeal.

The Tiida was designed as cheap transport for developing countries and uses the Micra platform. It was only sold in certain EU countries like Ireland as an afterthought to fill the void left by Almera for those who wanted a traditional hatchback/saloon. It was on sale in Asia about 2 or 3 years before it was brought here.

Hertz and Avis bought most of them. :D

To be fair, for someone just looking for reliable a to be transport with room, they probably had an appeal. Not much else going for them though.

    Opel Mokka

    From 20k

Engineered in Germany but made in Korea.
Proving so popular GM might move production to Europe (Spain).

    Opel Mokka
    Height: 164.6 cm
    Length: 428cm
    Nissan Qashqai
    Height: 160.5 cm
    Length: 431.5cm -453.5cm

Opel Mokka (also known as the Buick Encore / Vauxhall Encore)

Not much point linking the Buick as we don't get it.

As for the Mokka having driven one they are noisey, narrow inside and hard to see out of. The drive wasn't too bad, styling is subjective so decide if you like it yourself and it is priced competitively with discounts from new.

Personally I'd look else where. It's not near as big as the Nissan.

The OP stated his parents are looking for a "high seated car", not a large car.

The Mokka is just a few cm taller than the Qushqai.

The Mokka is just a few cm taller than the Qushqai.

And they said they were looking for a Qashqai which is a far bigger car inside and out than a Mokka.

I looked at most of the relevant cars in this class earlier in the year for a family member and we settled on a Yeti. The Mokka was the second most disappointing. The worst was the Toyota Verso-S.

BTW I asked in the first reply for more information from the OP as we could recommend anything from a Hyundai i10 to a Range Rover as all have high seating positions. At this stage we are just guessing.

Hyundai or honda have something similar. C max ford version might be more affordable.

I have a Qashqai which is fairly comfortable to drive, it has to be said, but I like the look of the Kia Sportage, which looks equally high seated:

The Hyundai ix35 looks tall too, but they're not cheap:

(You can see the cars have similar genetics )

Funnily, if you buy new the ix35 is generally cheaper than the Kia.

Sorry lads, I posted this yesterday and forgot I did!! VERY SORRY :(

Ok, the budget is circa 8-9k euro

Dad found the Cmax seating perfect (we own one) but he said it was tight inside when he was driving and my Mam was in the passenger seat. He isn't a fat git or that, but a big man (6ft 4) and 18st.

He currently has a primera but says is v hard to get out of as its low down.

Interesting that the Quashqai is the same size as the Cmax!!!

Mocha is lovely, too dear :)
