How annoying is this?!! Usually in work I might take a quick look at this site 3-4 times a day (ok 5-6 times really) and previously it was just a case of - have a quick scan of top stories, close browser.

As of the other day though ( only on a desktop PC, not on my mobile) it is automatically putting on a 30 second ad which can't be shut down. Super annoying or what!! Is there anyway to stop this coming up??

You want a plug-in to block ads? Like an ad-block plug in for your browser??

    Oh I don't know...:pac:

Usually if the page has annoying pop ups, floating ads or distracting background ads, I block them.

Even better, get a JavaScript blocker e.g. NoScript for Firefox or ScriptSafe for Google Chrome. You can selectively unblock the scripts that a site needs while blocking all the trackers and ad-loaders. It's usually safe to allow scripts on the same domain (e.g. boards.ie here), allow others that are required (e.g. boards requires b-static.net), and leave the rest blocked.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

The only time i've ever landed on that site was following a link (damn those irresistible Anglo Irish tapes). It's just occurred to me that people may actually use the Indo as their main news source.

    Step 1: Get firefox
Step 2: Get adblock plus plugin
Step 3: No more ads, no more bitchin.

It's God's worlds way of trying to protect you from the crap written in the indo.

I may have omitted to add that I take a quick look at the Irish times, examiner, guardian and (gasp) the sun as well multiple times daily, but the indo is the only one that makes you watch a feckin ad for 30 seconds

Can I add I am a very productive worker :-)
